Learn what it is like to be an SMSU student through the words of our current students!
As the campus winds down from an exciting week of Homecoming, there is still a buzz of excitement stirring amongst the students. Homecoming week was a great opportunity for friends and family to visit and enjoy all of the fun festivities that were offered on campus.
Classes have been in session now for about six weeks, and the students have been studying and preparing for the first few exams, papers, and projects. As things are getting hectic, students are definitely looking forward to Fall Break! Fall Break falls right in the middle of the semester, and it always seems to come at the PERFECT time! Because we get Thursday and Friday off, it’s a great opportunity for students to go home, visit friends and family, go on a road trip or just relax. My friends and I are planning to go to Holmberg Orchard in Vesta and partake in the fun activities they have going on there; we’re going to pick pumpkins to carve, and collect apples to make a pie! We’re also planning to road trip to Sioux Falls for a little shopping get away!! To finish off the Fall Break, the soccer team has two Conference match-ups at the Regional Event Center on Saturday and Sunday against Augustana and Wayne State, while the volleyball team travels to Augie and Wayne, and the football team travels to MSU Moorhead.
This semester is flying by so fast—I can’t believe we’re almost a third finished!

Hey All,
Well this week is SMSU’s 2011 Homecoming! The theme for the week is Southwest Superheros! We have many different events going on all over campus! Monday night we had a comedian on campus. I wasn’t able to attend but I heard he was hilarious and that it was packed! Last night I, along with all the rest of the 2011 Homecoming royalty, were hypnotized! It’s kind of foggy for me but I was informed by many that it was a great show! Wednesday we have Mustang Karaoke Idol that is put on by Students Today Alumni Tomorrow. Thursday evening the homecoming king and queen were crowned at coronation with a dance that followed. Tonight, the Mustang volleyball team will be playing University of Minnesota Duluth with “So You Think You Can Move Like a Mustang?” to follow. To kick off game day Saturday morning the parade will begin at 11:00am, tailgating will begin around 2:00pm, the volleyball team plays at 3:00pm, and the Mustang football team will take on Augustana with the kick off taking place at 6:00pm! For halftime entertainment I as well as the rest of the SMSU Dance Team will be performing for the first time this season! We have a great performance prepared for all the Mustang fans! Finally after the game Jonny Holmes will be playing in the RA facility! It’s a busy week but so much fun! I hope the rest doesn’t go by too fast!
Well that’s all for now! I’ll post some pictures from the week soon!
Go Mustangs!!!!

Hey Everyone!
School is back in session here at SMSU and there are so many activities! Yesterday was the first day of intramural activities and all of the sand volleyball teams were out playing. Tonight is flag football and basketball for everyone who wants to play. In addition to the intramural events there are also groups putting on other opportunities around campus. STAT (Students Today Alumni Tomorrow) is holding a Powder Puff Football tournament tonight on the Regional Event Center. There are ten teams involved and many have already made shirts and begun practicing for their big kickoff.
In addition to the activities on campus, this weekend is the first home football game for the Mustangs! Many clubs on campus will have tents set up on the green lot behind the Regional Event Center for tailgating. There will be games, food, and sales for the students, alumni, and community as we begin this fall event. In addition to the home football game SMSU Athletics will be hosting their annual Ag Bowl this Saturday! They will have a live band, games, and the BBQ Bonanza for all to enjoy! Come support your SMSU Athletics! Go Mustangs!
