Spring is in the Air!

Hi All,

With only 29 days of school left and the snow beginning to melt, students here at SMSU are getting ready for warm days filled with outdoor activities. I know I am getting excited to go watch the baseball and softball games on the weekends! I am also pretty stoked just to wear shorts to these events. The Students Today Alumni Tomorrow organization is hosting a tailgating event on April 16th for both teams which should be a fun time. We will be grilling, playing bean bags and polish golf, and of course cheering on the Mustangs!

Another thing I am excited for is the snow to be off of the grass lot between all of the resident halls. When the snow is gone, it is a great spot to hang out and play games with friends. One of my favorite things to do out there is get people together and grill hamburgers and then play a very unorganized but fun game of whiffle ball.

During the winter months, us students living in the resident halls always find fun stuff to do inside and outside around campus. Now, that it is nice outside, it is a whole new playground that we take advantage of for the few weeks we have left of the school year.

Back to the Grind

Hey Everyone,
It's Ike Wilson and the great spring break is over. Back to school time. It's always fun to see everyone back in Marshall again after a week of not seeing them. My friends here are awesome! First thing we all did when everyone got back was hang out in my apartment to catch up. Everyone shared what they did for the break. It was great. One of my friends went to San Diego and soaked up a lot of sun. Another left for Connecticut because he had family there that he wanted to visit. As for me, I stayed in Marshall. I hung out with a few of the SMSU counselors, a friend that I hadn't seen since August came, and I went to two of my friend's birthday parties. In between that I hung out in my apartment and relaxed. It's always good to have a time when you know you have nothing to do so you can just sit back and do nothing. Paradise. Well time to get back into school mode. See ya!

Spring Break to New York!

Hello Everyone,
Spring Break is a great time to relax and get away from the studying! This break I was given the opportunity to travel to New York with the Global Studies class offered at SMSU. This trip would focus around our theatre and culinology program, although a mix of majors participated. One of the most memorable things we did on the trip was to see the Broadway production of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” starring Daniel Radcliff!

I wanted to visit the NBC Studios while in New York, and it just so happened that when I walked in they were taping of the show “30 Rock.” While standing on the other side of the barricade I had the chance to speak with a production assistant and see Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.

We were also able to eat at a few of the most popular restaurants in New York City, and the food was beautifully prepared! Probably the coolest, and most delicious food was the famous lolli-pop cheesecake with bubble gum frosting from David Burke’s Townhouse!

This trip was amazing! We had a whole day in the city to ourselves to explore, and try to figure out the subway system! Hanna and I bought tickets off a street vender for comedy show tickets, and were amazed to find out it was to the club “The Comic Strip” where successful comedians today got their start, such as Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Ray Romano and many more! They were all very funny, and we had a great time! Make sure to pay them a visit when you go!

It’s great to be back at SMSU, and I can’t wait to tell all my friends about my trip!
