Hey Mustangs!
This blog post is just a little “get to know me” kind of thing. My name is Brooklynn Hiles, I’m from Huron, South Dakota and I’m a freshman here at SMSU. I’m 19 years old and I am majoring in Elementary Education (which probably isn’t surprising). I love fishing, singing, photography, spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, and of course, watching Netflix. I’ve been a singer since I could remember, and I’ve been competing in the Dacotah Star Talent Show at the state fair since I was seven. I have two brothers: Mason is 16 and Ezra is 9. My family is a huge part of my life, and I’m so grateful for them.
I
toured SMSU in September 2014, and it was the only campus I toured before
making my final decision. I loved the campus; it’s all connected, so it’s
easier to get from one place to another, especially in the winter. I loved the
faculty that I got to meet, the smaller classrooms, and I just like the town of
Marshall itself. It’s about the same size as my hometown, so it wasn’t hard to
adjust.
I’ve
made a lot of great friends here. I think it’s true when they say you meet your
lifelong friends in college. I’m very thankful for the people I have met, and
I’m looking forward to meeting others.
I hope
everyone else is enjoying college as much as I am. Get out there, step out of
your comfort zone, and be adventurous. Confidence is key to making an impact.
